Crossing Borders is an independent zine project that explores the layered experiences of migration, identity, and cultural hybridity through a rich mix of visual and literary voices.

At its heart, Crossing Borders reflects on what it means to move geographically, emotionally, and culturally. It considers the negotiations of belonging and otherness that accompany immigration and travel, as well as the subtle transformations that occur when traditions meet new environments. Images and words weave together stories of resilience and displacement, celebrating the creativity that emerges from in-between spaces.

Frida Figueroa’s design and artistic contributions guide the zine’s visual rhythm. Her careful sequencing of pages and interplay of textures allow each voice to stand on its own while forming part of a larger collective narrative. Pastel drawings and conceptual photographs provide moments of quiet intimacy, while bold typography underscores the urgency of the themes.

More than a printed object, Crossing Borders serves as a portable exhibition and a conversation starter. It invites readers to pause, reflect, and carry forward a deeper understanding of the migrations—physical and spiritual—that shape contemporary life.
